Rangers Game & More Family Fun

First of all, I have to show off the cutest pigtails around. Kiersten has been rocking them a lot lately because her is getting long and kind of wild.Good example of her crazy hair. Plus this picture makes me laugh because she backed herself up under the coffee table and got stuck but was still smiling about it.
We went to a Rangers game Thursday night. We had great seats plus Aidan got a balloon shaped like a dog and a t-shirt. His favorite part? The dot race.
We also ate at Texas de Brazil this weekend. Aidan loved flipping over the disk when he wanted more food. Especially when he saw the waiter with the sausage.
Even Kiersten got in on the action. She loved the fried bananas. Here is some adorable sibling love. Aidan says "Kiersten thinks God gave her my hair to eat".

Aidan's AWANA Awards

We celebrated the end of Aidan's first year of Cubbies. We are so proud of him & all the bible verses he learned.

The Rest of April

Here are a few pictures from the end of the month...
Sleeping Beauty, she will snuggle up with whatever lovie she is given
Aidan had Donuts with Dad at school. Looks like he enjoyed the donut part very much.
Kiersten just being cute. I can't resist those big blue eyes.
At the Roughriders game
Kiersten loves to be pushed around on the trike. She can barely sit up but somehow can hold herself up on the seat. She looks so funny and cracks up the whole time. Celebrating my birthday

More Conversations with Aidan

Aidan had asked earlier in the day what I meant when I used the expression 'to kill two birds with one stone':
Me: Aidan, I need to you to pick up your toys and brush your teeth.
Aidan: Hold on, I can only kill one bird at a time

Aidan was telling Kiersten the story of Noah's ark:
Aidan: Kiersten, Noah called the grown-up zebras capital Zebras.

"OK, here they go again taking pictures of me. Cheese!" "What is this thing anyway?"
"I bet it tastes good" "I was right. Delicious"

An Exciting Easter

This weekend was full of Easter fun.
First, I took the kids to see the bunny at the mall. Neither was impressed. Aidan was bored because the bunny can't talk and Kiersten only wanted to pull on his whiskers. We colored some Easter eggs.
Aunt Karen came to town. She helped us make our bunny cakes. Our neighborhood had an egg hunt. Kiersten was in the 'under two' division which was not too competitive. Most of the kids couldn't move yet or had no idea what was going on. She enjoyed sitting in the grass and having eggs brought to her.
Her favorite part was taste-testing all the eggs. Aidan, on the other hand, was a man on a mission. He filled his basket, a bucket and all of Darren's pockets with his finds.
On Easter Eve, we started our resurrection cookies. The recipe walks through the Easter story with bible verses to go along with each cooking step. Aidan asked a million questions (no surprise) but I think got a lot of the process of making the cookies.
The last step the night before Easter is to put the cookies in a warmed oven and seal them up overnight like the tomb. By Easter the morning the cookies were ready. They turned out looking somewhat like a tomb and when bitten into they are empty inside. Although not the best tasting cookies, it was a neat process that I hope will become a family tradition.
Easter MorningWe topped off our celebration with some confetti-filled eggs. Even Kiersten got into the fun.
