Butterflies

Today Aidan & I went with some other moms from church to a butterfly exhibit that was set up in a mall. There was a big tent filled with flowers, butterflies and a bunch of kids trying to catch the butterflies with bits of cantaloupe. Aidan enjoyed it at first but when a butterfly snuck up on him unexpectedly he was ready to go.

The Playset

After getting approval from the Home Owners Group and a rigorous playset selection process, work was under way on Aidan's birthday gift. We were warned this is a big project and that was no exaggeration. Darren & Grandpa worked on it all afternoon Saturday & Sunday and there is still some work to be done.

Here are some work in progress pictures.

Grandpa Ohio in town

Grandpa Erskine was in town last week and taught Aidan the family art of making bread. Aidan was a little nervous to touch the dough at first but got into the kneading process. He definitely enjoyed the eating the part.

STARS!!

If you have ever been to a Stars game, you know that whenever the person singing the National Anthem says 'Stars' that the whole crowd shouts 'Stars' at the same time. Aidan has picked up on this but doesn't know the words to the National Anthem. He sings "Away...manger...no crib...no bed...STARS!!!"

All Sorts of Sports

We have been to quite a few sporting events in the last couple of weeks...
Dallas Stars Games
Aidan is a crazy hockey fan. He loves going to the games and knows the names of most of the key players. He practices playing hockey at home constantly and makes Darren & I play along with him. Check out the YouTube video of his version of the Stars entrance at the start of every game. He is very serious about it.
Aidan, Julie & The Stanley Cup - Aidan is so interested in his light up star given to him by the "pom-pom girls", he doesn't even realize the Cup is back there.

The handshake at the end of the first round

Aidan, obviously thrilled at the Stars victory over the Ducks

Twins Game vs. The Rangers

Same reaction as at the end of the Stars game. Although he did wake up for the fireworks and has not stopped talking about them.

Dallas Mavericks Game

Aidan using his megaphone to cheer for the Mavs

Despite the poor showing by the Mavs, Aidan was still cheering on the way to the car. He liked the clappers.

Orlando Trip

Last weekend, we made a quick trip to Orlando for Julie's friend, Brittan's wedding. We had a lot of fun hanging out and catching up. Aidan enjoyed the party too. The reception was at Margaritaville restuarant, hence the luau attire.
The weather was kind of rainy but Aidan still got a chance to swim in the hotel pool.

Easter

Aidan went to his first big egg hunt last weekend. He tends to be pretty passive around other kids and has a tendency to move at his own pace. We coached him that the night before and on the way there he was going to have to run to get the eggs because there would be a lot of other kids. He understood and would say 'run' if you asked him what he was supposed to do.
Well there were a ton of other kids and as soon as they said go the whole herd ran for the eggs. Aidan ran too but he kept running and running. He ran all the way across the field and didn't pick up a single egg. I guess we left out the step that he was supposed to pick up the eggs as he was running. Luckily he ran to the older kids area and grabbed eggs a few there. Next year we might need to be a little more specific in our directions.
