Which Santa?

That is Aidan's question whenever we mention Santa. It is a good question though because we have seen about six different Santas in the past few weeks. We have been enjoying all kinds of Christmas activities all over the city.

More Conversations with Aidan

After Aidan & I had just had a long and serious discussion about Haiti (spurred by a radio show). Aidan already had asked why they had no food, no refrigerators or no money to buy food & refrigerators...
Me: Any more questions?
Aidan: Yes, have you ever seen a talking pothole in real life?
(Thanks Geico)

After close examination of a Christmas present under the tree...
Aidan: It smells like a coloring book.
(He was wrong but it did have wax in it so maybe it smelled like crayons)

Running through the house singing...
Aidan: Here I am, dum, dum, Rock me like a candy cane.
(I think you mean hurricane or else you were making it a seasonal song)

Conversations with Aidan

At the dinner table last night...
Me (to Darren): My plan is to clean up dinner, feed Kiersten, then go to Target, the mall & Toys R'Us.
Aidan: My plan is to go eat ice cream and (pause) that's it.

In the car today...
Aidan: Mom, how fast are you going?
Me: 37
Aidan: Why? The sign says you can 4-5
Me: I know but I am stuck behind a slow car
Aidan: Why are they going slow?
Me (trying to end the never-ending why questions): I don't know. I can't see into their head to know what they are thinking. Can you see into my head to know what I am thinking?
Aidan: Yes
Me: What am I thinking?
Aidan: I wish that car in front of us would go faster.

Snow Day!!

We woke up to a wonderful surprise last Wednesday morning. It was snowing, in Texas, at the beginning of December!! We hurried outside to play in it before it quickly turned to rain & melted away.

Cutting down the Christmas Tree

We took advantage of the warm weather on Monday and headed north to the tree farm. It started with a hay fight on the way out to the field.
Aidan pretending to be the perfect tree. Then we had to saw him down. After which he yelled "Timber" and fell over. Here is the real winner. No short tree for us.
The best news is that so far the tree is still standing. For those who remember the tree escapades of last year, we got a new tree stand that seems to be doing the job.

Thanksgiving

Our Little Butterball Our Handsome Pilgrim (taken at Aidan's school)
We headed north to Minnesota to celebrate Thanksgiving.
It was Kiersten's first airplane ride. She looks a little nervous.
She spent the flight happily snuggled in the Bjorn. Aidan made the table decorations this year. They are turkey luminaries (or turkey bags as Aidan referred to them).
We visited the Children's Museum. Aidan is making paper.
Here is his beautiful recycled art project. Kiersten got into the action at the baby area. We also went to the Mall of America which has a Nickelodeon themed amusement park inside. Aidan was quite a daredevil and wasn't scared of any of the rides.

Rest of November

Here is a quick recap of the rest of our November happenings:
Darren took Aidan to see Curious George live. He loved it and continues to act out scenes from the show at home.
See the resemblance in the next two pictures?
Kiersten has really developed personality in the past few weeks. She loves to smile (especially at big brother) and will talk to whoever will listen. Darren celebrated his birthday. After cake, we went to a hockey game. The boys got to skate with the team after the game. Here they are sporting their free jerseys. Hanging out with the goalie.
We also all went down to Darren's office to show off Kiersten.
