May Happenings

It has been a month since the last post. We had a busy month of May. Here are some highlights...

It's a...

...GIRL!!
We were not really surprised since that is what the doctor predicted at our 12 week sonogram. The surprising part is that she is only in the 50th percentile on all her measurements where Aidan was at the 90+ percentile at this time. Maybe she will be a small baby or she just has another 20 weeks to catch up to the chunk that Aidan was. Guess I'll have to start shopping for some girl clothes...

Daddy Campout

Here are some pictures from Aidan & Darren's camping trip. They went with a bunch of dads and their kids from church. Aidan came back dirty and covered in bumps and scrapes so I think that means he had a good time.

Random Comments from Aidan

I am sure every parent thinks the things their child says are hilarious and I am no exception. Here are some examples from the past week:
  • We are walking down the cereal aisle at the grocery store. Aidan runs up to a box and yells, "It's Barack Obama!" Sorry bud, that is the Quaker Oat man. How do you get those two confused? The funniest part was another lady overheard the whole thing and couldn't stop laughing.
  • Aidan has become very curious about punctuation lately. When we are reading he will stop to ask what different marks mean like periods, question marks and apostrophes. I had just finished explaining how when there is a list of names or something like that there is a comma in between them. We turned to the next page and at the top were the names of the dogs on that page. Aidan asked, "Where is the catastrophe between those names?"
  • We have been listening to a CD in the car that has the song "Old McDonald" on it. We have been listening to it over and over again for the past week. At the end of the song the lady singing asks, "What kind of animals live on your farm?" Today Aidan just put his hand on forehead and said "I have already told her all the other times that we don't live on a farm. Why does she keep asking?"

Easter Fun

We have been having a lot of fun getting ready for Easter.
At the Egg Hunt in Frisco on a very chilly Saturday morning. There were so many eggs and so few kids that Aidan's basket was overflowing. Making special 'Bunny Cakes' that Aidan picked out of a newspaper ad.
The finished product. The ones with letters were for Mommy, Daddy, Aidan and Aunt Karen, who was in town for the weekend. on the last two he told us to make a one and a seven. Why? I don't know.
At the egg hunt at the ballpark in Frisco. What a difference in weather a week makes.Taking a few swings in the bullpen.Coloring Easter Eggs. We painted them instead of dipping in dye. (Have you noticed Aidan has finally learned to smile in pictures instead of making his goofy grin.)

Aloha!

We have returned from our wonderful vacation in Hawaii. The weather was beautiful and allowed us to enjoy the beach and the pool everyday. Aidan was old enough this year to truly enjoy the ocean and everything that was going on. We got plenty of rest and relaxation which was much needed. If only Spring Break came more than once a year.
View from our hotel room in Princeville
For some reason Aidan loved having Darren blow water right into face from the swim noodle. This went on for some time before Darren ran out of breath.
Aidan's shocked expression after feeling the cold water that was coming down a mountain stream into the ocean.
Darren with Aidan and Ryan (Darren's friend from MN) with Carter in backpacks going for a hike.
Aidan enjoying the lei making class at the hotel
Aidan modeling his lei (which he wore sash-style). He jumped up on the stage and yelled "Welcome to Spring Break".

At the luau, Aidan getting ready to taste poi.
After poi
Aidan is a ukulele master. He wanted to play every one he saw in the stores. We finally bought him one as a souvenir. His performance videos will be posted soon.Aidan's favorite hotel feature was the automatic footwasher. He hopped on as soon as he had one grain of sand on his toes.
