Happy Birthday Aidan

Aidan celebrated turning the big three this weekend. We had dinner at Chuck E Cheese, cake, donuts at the park with friends and presents. Thanks to all who celebrated with us, near and far.
Presents that came in the mail

A word of warning to any who might be playing Skee Ball near Aidan: He throws overhand. In the second picture you can see his ball flying into the next lane.
Aidan decorated his own cake this year.

Starting Soccer

Aidan has his first official soccer class/practice tonight. It was what you might expect with a group of 12 or so three-year-olds but he had a great time. I was impressed at how well he followed directions and kept up with the other kids. His only problem was that we didn't tell him ahead of time that there is more than one way to dribble a ball. At first when the coach would say dribble, he would pick up the ball and bounce it like a basketball. We will work on that for next week.
Warm-Ups (Aidan has on the white shirt and navy shorts) The coach had the kids try to balance the ball behind their head. We were surprised that Aidan could actually do it.

Post-practice dinner. Aidan got a special birthday dessert. Earlier this month, Darren took Aidan to Home Depot again for their kid's workshop.

May Happenings

It has been a month since the last post. We had a busy month of May. Here are some highlights...

It's a...

...GIRL!!
We were not really surprised since that is what the doctor predicted at our 12 week sonogram. The surprising part is that she is only in the 50th percentile on all her measurements where Aidan was at the 90+ percentile at this time. Maybe she will be a small baby or she just has another 20 weeks to catch up to the chunk that Aidan was. Guess I'll have to start shopping for some girl clothes...

Daddy Campout

Here are some pictures from Aidan & Darren's camping trip. They went with a bunch of dads and their kids from church. Aidan came back dirty and covered in bumps and scrapes so I think that means he had a good time.

Random Comments from Aidan

I am sure every parent thinks the things their child says are hilarious and I am no exception. Here are some examples from the past week:
  • We are walking down the cereal aisle at the grocery store. Aidan runs up to a box and yells, "It's Barack Obama!" Sorry bud, that is the Quaker Oat man. How do you get those two confused? The funniest part was another lady overheard the whole thing and couldn't stop laughing.
  • Aidan has become very curious about punctuation lately. When we are reading he will stop to ask what different marks mean like periods, question marks and apostrophes. I had just finished explaining how when there is a list of names or something like that there is a comma in between them. We turned to the next page and at the top were the names of the dogs on that page. Aidan asked, "Where is the catastrophe between those names?"
  • We have been listening to a CD in the car that has the song "Old McDonald" on it. We have been listening to it over and over again for the past week. At the end of the song the lady singing asks, "What kind of animals live on your farm?" Today Aidan just put his hand on forehead and said "I have already told her all the other times that we don't live on a farm. Why does she keep asking?"
